Animator Set Trigger Repeated
Periodically set an Animator trigger parameter at random intervals.
Useful for repeatedly triggering idle animations like Blink, Fidget, or ambient character behaviors.
Parameters
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
| Game Object | The GameObject with the Animator component to control. |
| Parameter Name | The name of the trigger parameter in the Animator Controller. |
| Min Delay | The minimum delay (in seconds) between each trigger activation. |
| Max Delay | The maximum delay (in seconds) between each trigger activation. |
Details
This action continuously runs and randomly triggers an Animator parameter between the specified minimum and maximum delay intervals. Each time the trigger fires, a new random delay is calculated for the next activation.
Performance
Consider the frequency of your min/max delays to avoid unnecessary frequent triggers that could impact performance with complex animation transitions.
Debugging
Common Issues:
- Ensure the trigger parameter exists in your Animator Controller.
- Verify Min Delay ≤ Max Delay (both can be equal for fixed intervals).
Examples
Character Idle Animations:
- Blink: Min Delay: 2s, Max Delay: 8s
- Fidget: Min Delay: 5s, Max Delay: 15s
- Look Around: Min Delay: 3s, Max Delay: 10s
Environmental Effects:
- Ambient Light Flicker: Min Delay: 0.1s, Max Delay: 2s
- Wind Gust Particles: Min Delay: 4s, Max Delay: 12s
- Bird Chirp Audio: Min Delay: 10s, Max Delay: 30s
Best Practices:
- Use longer intervals for more noticeable animations to avoid annoying repetition.
- Layer multiple triggers with different timing to create complex idle behavior.
- Consider using variables for delays to allow runtime adjustment.
